I like to fiddle with things

So I’ve moved everything from MovableType to WordPress. In part because I was bored, but WordPress really does seem easier to manage, theme, customize and extend.

I’ll get everything reimplemented eventually, but for now the quotes, Cafeshops, galleries, and the recently played pages are gone. The theme will likely change, too, but Scott Wallick make some nice themes and this one will do for now.

Also, does anyone know of a plugin for WordPress similar to MovableType’s Better File Uploader? I’ve looked through the Codex page for image plugins and haven’t found anything that is what I’m looking for and works well on a Mac. Doing everything through Flickr is an option, but there has to be a locally-hosted option that works.

The last of which I could never get to work quite right after Apple replaced crontab with launchd.

UPDATE: ImageManager 2.0 might be the answer to my image-uploading prayers. However, it requires NetPBM or ImageMagick which leads to DarwinPorts which leads to XCode (most of which I meant to reinstall forever ago).

Or because Mom's a moron…

From Moms-to-Be Delay Births, SFGate.com:

“We were going to try to get it out before midnight or I was going to keep my legs closed,” she said. “I don’t want her to have that stigma for the rest of her life. When she gets older, her friends would say that anything bad would be because of her birthdate.”

*sigh*

Stephen Colbert is hilarious. Comedians making themselves laugh is hilarious. Now combine the two:

(The other video that was on here [and gave the post its title] was from The Colbert Report, but it got pulled from YouTube and is “no longer available” on comedycentral.com. Crap.)

Three police Segways parked outside an Ann Taylor Loft downtown during lunch today. Whenever I see these things I think of Denis Leary’s bit about third-generation cops who end up on bike patrol. “You want a siren, use your mouth!” These have to be lower on the How Cool is Your Police Vehicle? rankings, right?

So I forgot to take my camera to the NYE party I organized, but a couple friends didn’t. Feast your eyes on the photographic stylings of Bob and Hugh.

Yeah, the cops showed up, not because of us but because one of the bartenders has a crazy ex-boyfriend (with matching restraining order) who called the cops on her in a fit of drunken stupidity and bitterness. They figured out the situation pretty quickly and never even came in the bar.

Mo’ money, mo’ money

Yeah, so I signed up for a Google AdSense account, check out the nifty text ads over on the right. I didn’t do it in any real attempt to make money, more to see what sort of ads Google decided to serve based on what’s on the site. If you see something interesting, click on it, if not, don’t. There are still a lot of the Katrina ads showing up (the default), so I don’t know if the service is slow or if I confuse the hell out of Google’s algorithms.

Ok, now show me interested…

I finally finished redoing the photo section. There’s nothing very new in there right now, but I’ll add stuff eventually and probably mention it here.

Sadly, I do not have a posse

Falcor has a posseI’m not sure why, but I get a kick of the the various “has a posse” images that people create every once in a while. Work was slow today, so I hunted down some of my favorites. Click through for more. The only one I couldn’t find a decent version of is Wil Wheaton’s. If anyone knows where to get one, leave a comment.
